NexGard 25 to 50 kg afoxolaner chewable tablets (136 mg) are used for the treatment and prevention of flea and tick infestations in dogs. They also help treat certain types of mange and can aid in preventing tick-borne diseases like Lyme disease. Flea Control: The tablets kill adult fleas rapidly (within 8 hours of attachment) and prevent further infestations by killing fleas before they can lay eggs, thus breaking the flea life cycle. Tick Control: They are effective against several common tick species, including the American dog tick (Dermacentor variabilis), black-legged (deer) tick (Ixodes scapularis), Lone Star tick (Amblyomma americanum), and brown dog tick (Rhipicephalus sanguineus). They work within 48 hours of tick attachment. Mange Treatment: NexGard is also used to treat demodectic mange (Demodex canis) and sarcoptic mange (Sarcoptes scabiei var. canis), which are skin infestations caused by mites. Disease Prevention: By killing ticks, the product helps reduce the risk of contracting serious tick-borne illnesses such as Lyme disease. Flea Allergy Dermatitis (FAD): It can be used as part of a treatment strategy for managing FAD, an allergic reaction to flea bites.
