Primary Uses Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia (BPH): This is the standard use for the 5 mg strength. It helps treat an enlarged prostate by shrinking the gland, which relieves urinary symptoms such as: Difficulty starting urination. Weak urinary stream or a stream that stops and starts. The need to urinate frequently, especially at night. A feeling that the bladder is not completely empty. Reduced risk of sudden inability to urinate (acute urinary retention) and the need for prostate surgery.
