Blueject is a brand name for Methylene Blue Injection USP, a synthetic dye used as both a diagnostic tool and a treatment for methemoglobinemia, a blood disorder. It's administered intravenously, often very slowly, and functions by staining tissues for surgical visualization or by converting abnormal methemoglobin back into functional hemoglobin, which helps restore the blood's oxygen-carrying capacity. Side effects can include blue-green urine discoloration and injection site reactions.
